A joint operation by the Khalra police and the Border Security Force (BSF) led to the recovery of a foreign pistol and an empty magazine from a field in Tarn Taran district. The seizure occurred on June 29, 2026, in Daliri village, located near the international border.

Details of the Seizure

The operation was conducted under the leadership of woman sub-inspector Asharju. Acting on specific intelligence, a police party along with BSF personnel searched the fields belonging to farmer Sukhwinder Singh. During the search, they discovered a hidden packet containing the foreign-made pistol and an empty magazine.

Sub-inspector Asharju stated that the team was patrolling the border area when they received credible information about the hidden weapons. A thorough search of Sukhwinder Singh's fields resulted in the recovery of the packet.

Legal Action Taken

Following the recovery, a case has been registered at the Khalra police station under relevant sections of the Arms Act. The police have launched an investigation to determine the origin of the weapon and the intended use. The farmer, Sukhwinder Singh, is being questioned to ascertain his involvement or knowledge of the hidden packet.

Authorities are also probing whether the pistol was smuggled from across the border. The BSF has increased vigilance in the area to prevent further illegal activities.
