Panic spread through parts of Tirupati on Monday following fresh bomb threats sent via email to two hotels in the city. The alarming messages triggered a massive and immediate security response, with authorities deploying bomb disposal squads, dog teams, and multiple police units to the locations.
Security Forces Swing Into Action
The scare began when Hotel Raj Park received an email warning of a potential RDX blast. Management promptly alerted the Alipiri police, who rushed a team to the site to initiate a thorough search. Simultaneously, a similar threat was received at another nearby hotel, leading to coordinated inspections at both premises.
Police swiftly cordoned off the areas surrounding the two hotels. Security personnel conducted exhaustive, room-by-room checks, screened luggage, and scoured parking zones and common areas for any suspicious items. CCTV footage from both locations was also examined meticulously for clues about any unusual movement or individuals.
No Explosives Found, Investigation Intensifies
After hours of intense searching, no explosives or hazardous materials were discovered at either hotel. However, the threat was taken extremely seriously. As a precautionary measure, guests and staff were questioned by officials. Police confirmed that based on preliminary leads, they continued to question a few individuals even after the all-clear was given.
This incident marks the second such security scare in Tirupati in recent months. Back in October, the temple city was rattled by a series of hoax bomb threats that caused widespread alarm. The latest threats, emerging near a key pilgrim route, have put authorities on high alert once again.
Authorities Vow Strict Action
In response to the recurring threats, police have significantly stepped up surveillance across the city. A major focus of the ongoing investigation is to trace the original source of the threatening emails. Officials have assured the public that the probe is active and that strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible for creating public fear and disrupting peace.
The repeated hoax calls have not only caused panic but also stretched security resources thin. Police are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately, while also emphasizing that creating such false alarms is a serious criminal offence.
