Ghaziabad Labourer Arrested for Girlfriend's Brutal Murder in Hotel Room

A shocking case of violence has emerged from Ghaziabad, where a 34-year-old labourer allegedly murdered his girlfriend in a hotel room before spending the night sleeping next to her lifeless body. The accused, identified as Praveen Kumar, finally called the police on Sunday morning, claiming his partner was unwell.

Gruesome Discovery After Night of Violence

Police responded to an emergency call around 7am on Sunday from Hotel New Royal King in Patel Nagar. When officers arrived at room number 207, they found the body of Aarti, a widow from Ghaziabad, lying on the bed. Praveen Kumar was present in the room and was immediately taken into custody for questioning.

The post-mortem examination revealed horrifying details about the woman's death. Doctors determined she died from shock and hemorrhage caused by ante-mortem injuries. The autopsy report showed multiple rib fractures, ruptured lungs and liver, and extensive internal bleeding throughout her chest and abdominal cavity.

DCP Dhawal Jaiswal stated that the severity of these injuries indicated a brutal physical assault. "The internal damage was extensive," an investigating officer noted, adding that there were no visible external injuries, suggesting the assailant believed the damage wouldn't be detected.

Relationship Details and Fatal Argument

Investigators learned that Aarti was a widow who lived with her 16-year-old son, Dakshya, in Ghaziabad. Praveen Kumar had been a friend of her late husband, Rohit Kumar, and was known to the family for several years.

According to ACP Upasana Pandey, Kumar told police he had been in a relationship with Aarti for approximately one and a half years, though they had known each other since 2022. The fatal night began when the couple checked into the hotel around 10pm on Saturday.

After consuming alcohol and food in their room, an argument erupted between them. Kumar claimed he became suspicious that Aarti was in contact with another man, which sparked the dispute. What began as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence.

Brutal Assault and Aftermath

During police questioning, Kumar admitted that Aarti slapped him during their argument. This apparently triggered his violent response. He began hitting her repeatedly with his fists and elbows, focusing particularly on both sides of her ribs.

Kumar told investigators that Aarti tried to defend herself by scratching his face, but this only further enraged him. The assault continued until around midnight, when Aarti lost consciousness and collapsed on the bed.

"He claimed he tried to shake her, but she didn't respond," an officer stated. Rather than seeking immediate medical help, Kumar remained in the room and eventually fell asleep on the bed next to Aarti's unconscious body.

Morning Discovery and Police Involvement

When Kumar woke up around 7am on Sunday, he attempted to rouse Aarti once more. Finding her unresponsive, he allegedly tried to leave the hotel with his bag without informing any staff members.

Hotel employees stopped him at the gate, prompting Kumar to claim his companion was unwell and he was going to a nearby medical shop. Suspicious staff members checked the room and found the woman completely unresponsive.

The hotel staff then instructed Kumar to alert the police, following which he dialed the emergency helpline number 112. Initially, Kumar claimed to have no recollection of the night's events, blaming their intoxicated state. However, police said the autopsy findings directly contradicted this account.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

Police have registered an FIR against Praveen Kumar under BNS Section 103 for murder. Investigators have seized forensic evidence from the hotel room and collected CCTV footage from the premises for examination.

Officials confirmed that forensic reports are still awaited as the investigation continues. The case has highlighted concerns about domestic violence and the brutal nature of the crime has shocked the local community in Ghaziabad.

Authorities are working to piece together the complete sequence of events from that fatal night, examining all evidence to build a strong case against the accused.
