Gold, cash stolen from locked house in Chennai's Saidapet

Chennai: Police have launched a search for unidentified burglars who broke into a locked house in Saidapet and stole 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery along with ₹2 lakh in cash. The theft came to light after the resident returned from church and discovered the house had been burgled.

Victim Details

The victim, Ranganathan, 52, is a meat trader residing in Saidapet. On Sunday morning, he left for work while his wife, Latha, locked the house and went to a nearby church. Upon her return, she found the door lock tampered with, the bureau safe broken open, and valuables missing.

Police Action

Saidapet police have registered a case. Forensic experts collected sets of fingerprints from the crime scene and have launched a hunt for the burglars. Further investigations are ongoing.
