GST Officer Found Dead in Car, Suicide Note Points to Harassment
A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon when authorities discovered the body of a 35-year-old GST department officer inside his car. The vehicle was parked on a deserted stretch of the Solapur-Dhule highway near Kapildhar Road.
Note Names Senior Officer, Triggers Police Action
During their search, police officers made a crucial discovery. They recovered a handwritten note from the deceased officer's pocket. This note reportedly named a senior officer from the same GST office in Beed. It detailed allegations of prolonged mental harassment.
Based solely on the contents of this note, the Beed rural police took immediate action. They detained the named senior officer for questioning. The officer had reportedly visited the morgue upon learning of the death. Police escorted him to the station, fearing potential retaliation from the victim's grieving relatives.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Discovery
The officer, identified as Sachin Jadhav, left his home in Chumb village on Friday morning. He told his family he was heading to the office in Beed. When he failed to return by late night, concern grew among friends and relatives.
Their efforts to locate him proved unsuccessful. A formal missing person complaint was subsequently lodged with the police. The search ended tragically on Saturday afternoon. Jadhav's car was spotted parked alone on the highway.
Assistant Inspector Balraj Darade and his team from Beed Rural police rushed to the location. They found the vehicle locked from the inside. After forcing entry, they discovered Jadhav's body inside the car.
Unusual Findings and Suspected Cause of Death
Investigators noted unusual items within the vehicle. They recovered a clay pot containing burning charcoal. Police suspect the charcoal was lit inside the closed, locked car. This likely led to suffocation from smoke inhalation.
Preliminary findings point towards death by asphyxiation. However, officials have stated clearly that the postmortem report will provide the definitive medical cause. The body was sent to the district hospital for autopsy. Police have registered an accidental death case for now.
Beed Superintendent of Police Navneet Kanwat addressed the media. He confirmed the recovery of the note and the detention. "We will register a formal case and proceed with the investigation based on the autopsy findings," he stated.
Victim's Profile and Family's Allegations
Sachin Jadhav was not just a government officer. He was a qualified professional and an educator. An alumnus with a BSc in Agri-Biotech and an MA in English, he cleared the tough Maharashtra Public Service Commission exam in 2012. He later joined the GST department as a state tax officer.
Beyond his official duties, Jadhav guided thousands of students. He ran a popular YouTube channel and coaching centres focused on English. He also authored books for competitive exam aspirants.
His family members have come forward with serious allegations. They claim Jadhav faced relentless harassment from a senior officer for several months. They state he had even filed formal complaints with higher authorities about this treatment.
Relatives have also raised questions about his official posting. They revealed that although Jadhav received a transfer order to Jalna, he continued working in Beed. The family is demanding clarity on how this administrative anomaly was permitted.
The police investigation continues as they await the official postmortem report. The community and his many students mourn the loss of a dedicated officer and teacher.
