In response to the devastating explosion at Delhi's Red Fort that claimed multiple lives, Gujarat Police has initiated a comprehensive precautionary security alert across the entire state. The security apparatus was activated on Monday evening following the tragic incident in the national capital.
Statewide Security Protocols Activated
Gujarat Police has implemented Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) to heighten security measures throughout the state. The alert came through an official message from the State Control Room (SCR) directed to all district Superintendents, Commissioners, and Range IGs following the car explosion at Gate No 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi.
The security measures include intensive patrolling of sensitive areas, establishment of checkpoints at strategic locations, and thorough vehicle inspections. Police teams have been deployed to conduct checks at vital installations across major cities and border areas.
Multi-Agency Coordination in Border Districts
In border districts, close coordination is underway between the Collectorate, police forces, and military and paramilitary stations. A collector from a border district confirmed that while the alert primarily directs police action, all security agencies are working in tandem to ensure comprehensive security coverage.
The security enhancement comes amid earlier precautionary measures taken by local police after the recovery of a stockpile of Ammonium Nitrate, an AK-47 rifle, and several timers used for explosives from a doctor's home in Faridabad, Haryana.
Operational Deployment Across Cities
A Deputy Commissioner of Police from a major Gujarat city revealed that specialized teams including the Dog Squad, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and Special Operations Group (SOG) have been deployed to check vital installations. Night combing operations have been established with increased surveillance at all entry and exit points of urban centers.
Vehicle checking, particularly of abandoned vehicles, is being rigorously conducted. Police may also disperse large crowds as a precautionary measure in major cities to prevent any potential security threats.
A Superintendent of Police from a major district stated that immediate checks for suspicious persons are underway across their jurisdiction. Comprehensive checking of all hotels, dharamshalas, and dhabas is being conducted simultaneously with intensified vehicle inspections.
Naka bandhi (check points) have been established throughout the district with increased police presence from all police stations. Personnel have been deployed across the field to maintain heightened security vigilance.
Official Statement and Public Appeal
Gujarat DGP Vikas Sahay, in a statement on X, emphasized that while the exact reason for the Red Fort blast remains unconfirmed, Gujarat Police is maintaining high vigilance. He appealed to citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to local police authorities.
The DGP specifically urged the public to avoid spreading rumors and rely only on verified information from official sources. The coordinated security response aims to prevent any potential security incidents while maintaining normalcy across the state.
