Housekeeping Staffer Succumbs to Injuries After Violent Mobile Snatching in Gurgaon
A tragic incident unfolded in Gurgaon's Nathupur area when a 28-year-old housekeeping staffer lost his life after a violent confrontation over his mobile phone. The victim, identified as Birbal Oran from West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, suffered grievous injuries during the assault and passed away two days later at PGI Rohtak.
Fatal Chase Near Liquor Shop
According to police reports, the incident occurred late on January 14 near a liquor shop in Nathupur Mandi. Oran was standing in the area when three men suddenly grabbed his mobile phone and attempted to flee the scene. The victim immediately gave chase, determined to recover his stolen property.
This pursuit proved fatal. As Oran ran after the accused, they allegedly turned on him with brutal force. The attackers picked up bricks and stones from the roadside and mercilessly beat the young man. They left him severely injured and bleeding on the street, abandoning him in his helpless state.
Medical Journey and Tragic Outcome
Emergency services transported Oran to the government hospital in Sector 10. Medical professionals assessed his critical condition and quickly referred him to the better-equipped PGI Rohtak facility. Despite receiving specialized care, Oran's injuries proved too severe.
Doctors declared him unfit to provide any statement about the attack. The housekeeping staffer, who worked in DLF Phase-2 and lived in a rented Nathupur room, fought for his life for two days. He ultimately succumbed to his injuries on January 16 during treatment.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Oran's sister filed a formal complaint after traveling to Gurgaon upon learning about her brother's condition. The DLF Phase-3 police station registered a murder case based on her statement.
Law enforcement moved swiftly. Joint teams from the Sikandarpur crime branch and Nathupur police outpost conducted raids in Nathupur Bihari Mandi. They successfully apprehended three suspects on Monday.
Police identified the arrested individuals as Naresh Kumar (24) from Madhubani, Raju Kumar Jha (28) from Sarsa, and Vipin Kumar (23) from Darbhanga. All three hail from Bihar. During preliminary questioning, the accused confessed to snatching the mobile phone and assaulting Oran when he tried to stop their escape.
