Guwahati Police Apprehend Six Suspected Thieves in Coordinated Operation

In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, the Fatasil Ambari Police Station in Guwahati successfully arrested six individuals suspected of involvement in multiple theft and burglary cases. The arrests were made on Saturday following a meticulously planned operation based on specific intelligence inputs.

Heightened Security Measures Following Recent Incidents

The police action comes at a time when residents of the area have been experiencing heightened concern about security, particularly after the recent Ganeshpara robbery incident that occurred within the jurisdiction of the Fatasil Ambari Police Station. This successful operation demonstrates the police department's commitment to addressing public safety concerns and restoring confidence among citizens.

Intelligence-Driven Police Operation

Officer-in-charge Mukut Baishya of Fatasil Ambari Police Station revealed that the arrests followed careful monitoring of an organized group believed to be responsible for thefts across various localities in the Fatasil Ambari area. "We received specific information about the movement of this group and immediately planned a coordinated operation," Baishya explained.

The police team acted swiftly on the intelligence and conducted an overnight operation that resulted in the apprehension of all six suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Moinul Haque
  • Rahul Paswan
  • Abdul Malik
  • Prakash Sarkar
  • Tushar Shil
  • Bittoo Shaw

Substantial Recovery of Stolen Property

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West district) Numal Mahatta provided details about the recovered items from the operation. "Our team recovered Rs 17,000 in cash along with valuable gold jewellery including two gold chains, three gold earrings, two golden bangles, and a gold ring," Mahatta stated.

The recovery of these items represents significant progress in addressing property crimes in the area and may help resolve multiple pending theft cases reported by local residents.

Legal Proceedings and Enhanced Security Measures

Police officials confirmed that a formal case has been registered against the arrested individuals under sections 331(4) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act. The accused are scheduled to be produced before a local court, where police will seek remand for further investigation to uncover potential connections to other criminal activities.

In response to the recent criminal incidents, police authorities have announced intensified patrols and enhanced surveillance in sensitive areas across the jurisdiction. "We are taking comprehensive measures to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of residents," added a senior police officer involved in the operation.

The successful operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-based policing and demonstrates the Guwahati Police Department's proactive approach to combating organized crime in residential areas.
