A young couple from Haryana was caught performing dangerous stunts on a moving Tata Safari at Hanuman Chowk in Dehra on Friday evening, prompting swift action by the traffic police.
Incident Details
According to the police, traffic personnel deployed at the busy intersection noticed a woman sitting on the bonnet of the Tata Safari (registration number HR98T-1214) while a man was protruding through the vehicle’s sunroof as it moved through the chowk. The duo was allegedly performing dangerous stunts in violation of traffic regulations, posing a serious risk to their own safety as well as that of other road users.
When the police signalled the driver to stop, the vehicle allegedly sped away, ignoring the directive. It later crossed into neighbouring Punjab. Following the incident, the police reviewed CCTV footage from cameras installed at the chowk and identified both the vehicle and its owner. The vehicle was traced to Vicky, a resident of Wazirabad in Gurugram, Haryana.
Penalty and Warning
Mayank Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police (SP), Dehra, confirmed that an online challan of Rs 3,500 had been issued for traffic violations. He urged motorists to refrain from reckless driving, stunts, and other hazardous activities on public roads, warning that such behaviour not only endangers lives but also constitutes a serious violation of the Motor Vehicles Act.

This incident highlights the growing concern over dangerous stunts on public roads. The police have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating traffic rules, and they encourage citizens to report such activities. The use of CCTV footage in this case enabled authorities to take action even after the vehicle fled the scene.
