In a shocking incident from Haryana's Sirsa district, a man and his wife allegedly strangled his mother and her lover before loading the bodies into their pickup truck and driving directly to the police station, leading to their immediate arrest.
The Victims and Their Forbidden Relationship
The deceased have been identified as Angoori Devi, 42, and Lekhraj, 45, both residents of Sikandarpur Thehar village. According to police investigations, the two neighbors whose houses stood opposite each other had been involved in a romantic relationship despite both being married to other people.
The controversial relationship had become a matter of village discussion and had been taken up by the village panchayat several times in attempts to resolve the matter. Despite these interventions and community pressure, the two continued their affair, creating ongoing tension within the small community.
The Night of Violence
The situation reached its tragic climax on Thursday night when Rajkumar allegedly caught his mother Angoori Devi and Lekhraj in what police described as an "objectionable position." Enraged by the discovery, Rajkumar and his wife Sunita reportedly attacked both individuals.
Police stated that the couple used a scarf to strangle both victims to death in the heat of the moment. The violent confrontation ended with two lives lost and the couple facing murder charges.
Bizarre Journey to Police Station
In an unusual turn of events, the couple did not attempt to hide their actions. The next morning, they loaded the bodies of both victims into their pickup truck and drove directly to the Sadar police station in Sirsa district.
Sub-inspector Lekhraj, who is in charge of Sirsa Sadar police station, confirmed that a case has been registered against Rajkumar and Sunita under sections 103 (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita. The complaint was filed by Lekhraj's father, Jairam, adding another layer of tragedy to the already complex case.
Aftermath and Investigation
Following the formal registration of the case, post-mortem examinations were conducted on both bodies as part of the standard investigative procedure. The bodies were subsequently handed over to their respective families for last rites.
The case has sent shockwaves through Sikandarpur Thehar village and surrounding communities in Haryana, raising questions about how relationship disputes are handled within traditional village structures and the extreme consequences that can sometimes follow.
