Hyderabad: Nepal Workers Jailed for Misbehaving with Woman

A local court in Hyderabad on Friday sentenced five catering workers from Nepal to one week of imprisonment for allegedly misbehaving with a woman near Nizam College on the night of May 27.

Incident Details

According to the Abids police, the incident occurred at around 6:30 pm near the Nizam College PG Hostel. The accused, reportedly in an inebriated condition, misbehaved with a woman who was traveling with her husband on a motorcycle. After the woman raised an alarm, locals caught the accused and handed them over to the police.

Accused Identified

Based on a complaint, the police registered a petty case against the accused: Sunil (23), Umesh (22), Laxman (23), Purushotham (22), and Ram (23). All are Nepal nationals working as catering staff and residing in King Koti.

Court Proceedings

The accused were produced before the III Special Judicial Second Class Magistrate Court at Manoranjan Complex in Nampally on Friday. The court found all five accused guilty and sentenced them to seven days of imprisonment under Sections 70(A) and 70(C) of the City Police Act. The police later shifted them to Chanchalguda prison.
