The demolished property belonged to Mukhtar Singh, a 41-year-old resident of Subash Colony, Mustafabad. Singh, who reportedly works as an e-rickshaw driver, has been implicated in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He is currently out on bail, with police records indicating two FIRs and three daily diary reports (DDRs) registered against him between 2023 and 2025. These cases involve charges under Sections 21, 21-B, 27-A, and 29 of the NDPS Act, highlighting his alleged involvement in narcotics activities.

The demolition was executed by the Amritsar Municipal Corporation as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle assets believed to be funded by drug trafficking proceeds. Providing further context, officials detailed the extensive campaign against drug trafficking from March 1, 2025, to March 16, 2026. During this period, enforcement teams registered a total of 1,877 cases under the NDPS Act, resulting in the arrest of 3,321 individuals. Significant seizures included:

  • 280.255 kg of heroin
  • 31.876 kg of opium
  • 6.394 kg of methamphetamine (ice drug)
  • 9 kg of ganja
  • 16.125 kg of charas
  • 0.112 kg of cocaine
  • 325.492 kg of narcotic powder
  • 25 kg of poppy husk

Additionally, authorities recovered 1,550 injections and 1,96,980 capsules or tablets. The crackdown also led to the confiscation of drug money amounting to Rs 31,186,415 and the impounding of 136 vehicles used in narcotics activities, comprising 37 four-wheelers, three three-wheelers, and 96 two-wheelers.
