Indore: Heera Nagar Residents Block Road, Demand Justice for Murder Victim
Tension gripped the Heera Nagar area of Indore on Monday as residents and grieving family members staged a major protest by blocking the Gauri Nagar intersection. The demonstration erupted following the brutal murder of a 30-year-old man, whose body was placed on the road, bringing traffic to a complete standstill.
Horrific Incident Witnessed by Eight-Year-Old Son
The victim was stabbed to death on Sunday in a shocking attack that was witnessed by his eight-year-old son. According to reports, assailants chased the man down and repeatedly knifed him. The incident occurred when the deceased, a resident of Jam Nagar who worked at a grocery shop in Siyaganj, had come to attend his brother-in-law's wedding anniversary.
Protesters' Demands and Police Response
On Monday, after the postmortem examination, the man's family and local residents blocked the intersection, voicing several key demands:
- Immediate arrest of all accused individuals
- Strict action against drug smuggling activities, as the accused are reportedly addicts
- Compensation for the bereaved family
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rubina Mijwani reached the spot to pacify the protesters. She stated, "We have identified six suspects, three adults and three minors. Two have already been detained." The blockade was eventually lifted after authorities assured swift legal proceedings and a crackdown on criminal elements in the colony.
Investigation Details and Ongoing Manhunt
Police station in-charge Sushil Patel confirmed that CCTV footage captured the suspects fleeing the scene. Vivek and his associates have been named in the case, and a manhunt is underway for the remaining four suspects. Police have registered a case of murder and are actively questioning those in custody to gather more evidence and identify motives behind the attack.
The tragic event has highlighted concerns about public safety and drug-related crimes in the area, with residents calling for stronger police action to prevent such incidents in the future.
