Four Arrested in Major Drug Bust by Karnal STF
The Special Task Force (STF) of Karnal has dismantled an alleged interstate drug trafficking network operating across Haryana, Punjab, and other parts of north India. In a significant operation, four members of the gang, including a woman, were arrested, and 20 kg of opium valued at over Rs 70 lakh was seized. Additionally, the STF recovered Rs 92,000 in cash, a truck used to transport the contraband, an SUV, and six mobile phones.
Details of the Arrests and Seizures
The accused have been identified as Mohbir Rehman from Assam, Arjun Minali from Manipur, Maninder Kaur from Amritsar (currently residing in Ambala), and Mohammad Munna from Bihar, according to Probationer Sub-Inspector (PSI) Ankit Tanwar. The operation began on July 1 when the STF intercepted a truck at Pehowa and arrested Mohbir Rehman with 20 kg of opium. A case was registered at the Sadar police station in Pehowa, and he was produced before a court, which remanded him to 10 days of police custody.
Interrogation Leads to More Arrests
During interrogation, Mohbir allegedly disclosed the roles of other gang members. Acting on his inputs, the STF arrested Arjun Minali on July 2. Police stated that Arjun was a key supplier of narcotics to the gang. He was taken on seven days of police remand for further questioning. On July 5, the STF arrested Maninder Kaur, who police said was actively involved in supplying drugs across Haryana, Punjab, and several other parts of north India. She was remanded to four days of police custody.
Key Suspect Apprehended from Bihar
The fourth accused, Mohammad Munna, was arrested from Bihar on July 7. Police suspect he played a crucial role in the supply chain of the narcotics racket. He has been sent to police remand until July 18, and authorities are questioning him to identify other members of the network and trace additional gang operatives. The STF continues to investigate the interstate drug trafficking network, aiming to dismantle the entire supply chain.
