Police Crack Down on Interstate Burglary Gang

Telangana police have arrested a notorious interstate burglary gang involved in a series of thefts across the state. During the operation, one suspect was shot in the leg after he attacked the police team with a knife while attempting to flee. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night in a suburban area of Hyderabad.

Details of the Operation

According to police officials, the gang was responsible for at least 12 burglaries in Telangana and neighboring Andhra Pradesh over the past three months. The teams conducted extensive investigation, including perusing footage of hundreds of CCTVs, which led to the identification of the suspects. The police tracked the gang to a hideout in the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Suspect Shot During Escape Attempt

When the police team moved in to make the arrests, one of the suspects, identified as Ravi Kumar, pulled out a knife and attacked the officers. In self-defense, a sub-inspector fired a single shot, hitting Kumar in the leg. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The other three members of the gang were arrested without incident.

Recovery of Stolen Goods and Weapons

The police recovered stolen jewelry, electronic items, and cash worth approximately Rs 50 lakh from the gang's possession. Additionally, several weapons, including knives and iron rods, were seized. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Anjani Kumar, stated, "This gang has been active in multiple states, and their arrest is a major breakthrough. We have been monitoring their movements for weeks."

Ongoing Investigation

The police are now investigating the gang's connections to other unsolved burglaries in the region. They are also probing whether the gang has links to larger criminal networks. The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody, and further interrogation is underway to uncover their full modus operandi.
