Krishnagiri: A 31-year-old man who was intoxicated died after falling off a high-tension electricity tower near Uthangarai in Krishnagiri district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Venkatesan alias Chinnarasu, son of Vediyappan, of Thalapathi Nagar.
Incident Details
Witnesses reported that Venkatesan climbed the tower under the influence of alcohol, reached the top, and sat there for some time before attempting to climb down. During the descent, he lost his balance and fell from a height of nearly 60 feet. He sustained a fatal head injury and died on the spot, according to a police officer from Singarapettai station.
Police Response
Police recovered the body and sent it to Uthangarai Government Hospital for a postmortem. A case has been registered, and further inquiry is ongoing.
This incident highlights the dangers of climbing high-tension towers, especially under the influence of alcohol. Authorities urge the public to avoid such risky behavior.
