ITI Student Confesses to Cousin's Murder in Weapons Theft

An ITI student arrested in connection with the theft of 32 licenced weapons from the Sector-8 police station in Faridabad has confessed to the murder of his 19-year-old cousin, a case that had remained unsolved for nearly a year. The accused, identified as Monu, a resident of Karnera village, revealed during police interrogation that he and his girlfriend, Sarita, killed Shivam and disposed of his body in the Gurugram canal.

Motive and Planning

According to the police, Monu suspected Shivam of having inappropriate intentions towards Sarita. Acting on this suspicion, the couple allegedly planned the murder meticulously. On the day of the incident, Sarita called Shivam to her home and served him tea laced with sedative pills. Once Shivam lost consciousness, they strangled him and smothered him with a pillow. Later that night, they transported the body on a motorcycle and dumped it in the canal.

Disappearance and Investigation

Shivam went missing on July 9, 2025. His family filed a missing complaint at the Sector-58 police station, but despite repeated searches, no breakthrough was achieved. The case remained cold until Monu's arrest in the weapons theft case. During interrogation, Monu confessed to the murder, leading the police to recover key evidence, including Shivam's slippers, based on his disclosure.

Family's Allegations

Vishal, the victim's brother, stated that the family had suspected Monu from the beginning and had informed the police. However, their concerns were not taken seriously. Vishal alleged that Monu, who was an apprentice at the Sector-8 police station at the time, used his contacts to influence the investigation. He added that an early, impartial probe could have resolved the case sooner and spared the family a year of uncertainty.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Sector-58 Station House Officer Inspector Vinod Kumar confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that Sarita has also been arrested in connection with the murder. The police are now working to gather further evidence and establish the full sequence of events.
