Jalgaon Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Firing at Construction Worker
Police in Jalgaon have taken swift action against a man accused of opening fire on a construction worker. The Ramanand police station registered a case of attempted murder on Thursday. This serious incident unfolded in the Pimprala area of the city.
Dispute Over Unfinished Work and Money Leads to Violence
The accused individual is Tushar Sonawane. He allegedly targeted Mustafa Salim Shaikh, a construction worker. According to senior police officers, the confrontation stemmed from a personal financial disagreement.
Inspector Rajendra Gunjal provided details of the case. Sonawane had hired Shaikh for some construction work. He paid Shaikh an advance of Rs 1.7 lakh for the job. However, Shaikh reportedly left the work incomplete and did not finish the project.
This situation created tension between the two men. Sonawane demanded the return of his money. The dispute reached a boiling point on Thursday afternoon.
Altercation Escalates to Gunfire in Pimprala
Sonawane and Shaikh met in the Pimprala locality. Their meeting quickly turned into a heated argument. During the altercation, Sonawane allegedly produced a firearm.
He then fired a single shot directly at Shaikh. Fortunately, the bullet did not hit the worker. No one sustained any injuries during this frightening episode.
After firing the shot, Sonawane reportedly snatched Shaikh's mobile phone. He then fled from the scene to avoid immediate arrest.
Police Clarify Incident is Unrelated to Elections
The shooting occurred on a day when Jalgaon residents were actively participating in election duties. News of the gunfire initially caused alarm among local citizens.
Many people first suspected the violence might be connected to the ongoing electoral process. However, police authorities promptly addressed these concerns.
Inspector Gunjal made it clear that this was a purely personal matter. The conflict arose from longstanding enmity between Sonawane and Shaikh. It had absolutely no link to election-related activities or political violence.

The Ramanand police have registered a formal case against Tushar Sonawane. The charges include attempted murder and other relevant sections of the law.
