Jammu Crime Branch Files Chargesheet in Multi-Crore Army Supply Order Forgery Case
Jammu Crime Branch Chargesheet in Rs 16 Crore Forgery Case

The Crime Branch of Jammu has filed a chargesheet in a local court against Puneet Rasutra, a resident of Rehari, Jammu, for his alleged role in a multi-crore cheating and forgery case involving a fake Army supply order. The case was registered under Sections 420, 471, and 201 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) following a complaint by Munish Bhatia of Canal Road, Jammu.

Allegations and Modus Operandi

According to the complaint, Rasutra induced Bhatia and his brother to mortgage their property as collateral for bank loans by falsely claiming to have secured a contract worth nearly Rs 16 crore from the Indian Army. The accused allegedly produced a forged supply order purportedly issued by the 107 Engineer Regiment, C/o 99 APO, to obtain an additional overdraft facility of Rs 4 crore from the J&K Bank’s Trikuta Nagar branch.

Investigation Findings

The Crime Branch investigation confirmed that the Army supply order was fake. Army authorities stated that no such work order had ever been issued. The complainant and his brother suffered losses of approximately Rs 10 crore and were compelled to clear outstanding liabilities to secure the release of their mortgaged property.

Criminal Conspiracy and Charges

“The investigation further revealed that the accused, acting in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy, used forged and fabricated documents to fraudulently obtain substantial credit facilities, causing significant wrongful loss to both the complainant and the bank. Accordingly, the chargesheet has been filed before the competent court for judicial determination,” a Crime Branch spokesperson said.

Legal Proceedings

The chargesheet has been submitted to the competent court, which will now proceed with judicial determination. The case highlights the use of forged Army documents to commit financial fraud, impacting both individuals and financial institutions.
