The accident took place near Katauna village under the jurisdiction of the Malaypur police station area. According to police reports, the e-rickshaw was traveling from Gharsanda village to Simaria ghat in Begusarai district when the collision happened. The impact of the crash was so severe that it claimed the life of one passenger instantly and left the others with critical injuries.

Victims Identified by Authorities

The deceased has been identified as Chanchala Devi, a 50-year-old resident of Gharsanda village. The injured individuals include:

  • Dukhni Devi (60 years old)
  • Daya Devi (60 years old)
  • Kari Devi (60 years old)
  • Sajni Devi (35 years old)
  • Manju Devi (45 years old)
  • Pintu Tanti (26 years old), the e-rickshaw driver

One of the survivors, Daya Devi, recounted the tragic moment, stating, "The accident took place while we were going to take a holy dip in the Ganga river." This statement underscores the religious significance of their journey and adds a layer of sorrow to the unfortunate event.

Immediate Response and Medical Treatment

Following the collision, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the victims in distress. Local residents quickly came to their aid and helped transport all the injured to Sadar Hospital in Jamui. Due to the serious condition of the e-rickshaw driver, Pintu Tanti, he was referred to Patna for advanced medical treatment, highlighting the severity of his injuries.

Upon receiving information about the accident, personnel from the Malaypur police station promptly arrived at the spot and initiated a thorough investigation. Malaypur SHO Shekhar Saurav confirmed that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the truck driver responsible for the collision.
