Jharsuguda Police Bust Arms Syndicate, Arrest Two

Jharsuguda police have successfully dismantled an organized interstate arms syndicate by arresting two suppliers in separate raids. The suspects were allegedly sourcing firearms from Bihar for local distribution.

First Arrest in Brajrajnagar

In Brajrajnagar, police apprehended Adarsh Dubey alias Bittu (32), a resident of Ganganagar. During a search, authorities seized one country-made 7.65 mm pistol, two single-shot country-made pistols, and four rounds of live ammunition.

Second Arrest Under Orient Police Limits

In a parallel operation, Md Rafique Ansari (27) of Mahavirnagar was arrested. Police recovered a country-made 7.6 mm pistol, a magazine loaded with four rounds, a motorcycle without registration number used for transportation, and an iPhone 11 Pro with a Jio SIM card from his possession.

Investigation Findings

Preliminary investigation revealed that Dubey and Ansari acted as key procurement agents, bringing illegal firearms from Bihar for local circulation. Police confirmed that both are habitual offenders with prior involvement in arms trafficking.

Superintendent of Police (Jharsuguda) G R Raghavendra stated that police will continue intensified action against organized criminal networks under ‘Operation Netra’ to ensure public safety. The operation underscores the commitment to curbing illegal arms supply in the region.
