Job Fraud Suspect Dies by Suicide in Lucknow After Facing Pressure from Victims
A 36-year-old man, who was allegedly involved in a job fraud scheme, died by suicide in Lucknow on Thursday. Police reported that he shot himself with an illegal revolver in his rented room in the Vikasnagar area.
Roommate Discovers the Incident
His roommate, a competitive exam aspirant, returned home and found the door locked. He repeatedly knocked and made phone calls but received no response. Concerned, he immediately informed the police about the situation.
Officers arrived at the scene and broke open the door. They discovered the man, a native of Jaunpur, lying in a pool of blood on his bed. He was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital.
Doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival. The preliminary investigation revealed a bullet wound on his chest.
Background of the Fraud Case
Police sources indicated that the deceased had taken large sums of money from multiple people. He claimed to have strong connections in government departments and promised them jobs in exchange for cash.
When the promised employment failed to materialize, the victims allegedly began pressuring him to return their money. This constant pressure pushed him into severe mental distress, according to the police probe.
Evidence and Investigation Details
Authorities recovered an illegal revolver from near the body. No suicide note was found at the scene. Key evidence, including the firearm and the man's mobile phone, has been sent for forensic examination.
ACP (Ghazipur) Indiranagar Anindya Vikram Singh stated that further legal action will proceed after the arrival of the deceased's parents from Mumbai. The completion of the postmortem report is also awaited.
The police are continuing their investigation into the job fraud allegations and the circumstances leading to the suicide.
