Kanpur Dumper Accident Kills Student, Injures Father

A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday night on the Ramadevi–Jajmau flyover in Kanpur's Chakeri area, resulting in the death of a 20-year-old Class XII student and serious injuries to her father. The driver of the speeding dumper fled the scene after the collision.

Victim Identified

The deceased was identified as Payal Saini, a resident of Atardhani village in Unnao district. Her father, Raju Saini, who sustained severe injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Details of the Incident

According to family members, Raju had brought his daughter to his in-laws' residence in Kuriyana, Kanpur, for medical treatment. After spending approximately 15 days there, the father and daughter were returning home on Tuesday night.

Police reported that the accident took place near Harjinder Nagar Crossing when a dumper approaching from behind allegedly struck their motorcycle. The impact threw Raju Saini several feet away, causing him to hit the divider. Payal fell down and suffered critical injuries. Passers-by alerted the police, who rushed both victims to Kanshiram Hospital, where doctors declared Payal dead.

Family and Investigation

Payal is survived by her mother Soni and two brothers, Shivam and Shubham. Station in-charge Ajay Prakash Mishra confirmed that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police are actively searching for the dumper driver, who absconded after the accident.

Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
