Kanpur police have announced traffic diversions and parking arrangements for the International Yoga Day programme scheduled at Green Park Stadium on June 21. The restrictions will come into effect from 4am, according to the traffic plan.
Traffic Diversion Routes
Vehicles coming from Taffco Chauraha will not be allowed to proceed towards Green Park. Such vehicles will be diverted from Merchant Chamber Tiraha towards Silverton Chauraha and Lal Imli. Similarly, traffic from MG College Chauraha towards Green Park Chauraha will remain restricted. Commuters will be able to take either right or left turns from M.G. College Chauraha to reach their destinations.
Vehicles approaching from Sarsaiyya Ghat Chauraha towards Mahila Thana and Green Park will also be barred. They will be diverted via Chetna Chauraha and Bada Chauraha.
Parking Arrangements
For parking, arrangements have been made for around 200 VIP vehicles in the vacant space near Gate-10B and the Visitor Gallery. Media personnel will be able to park 50 four-wheelers and 50 two-wheelers in the designated area between Gates 7A and 8A. A separate parking facility for around 50 four-wheelers has been arranged at the vacant ground behind McRobert Hospital.
Two-wheelers can be parked inside Gate No. 2, while additional space for nearly 300 two-wheelers has been earmarked on both sides of the road between Green Park and M.G. College. Parking arrangements for around 70 buses have been made along the stretch between Merchant Chamber Tiraha and Silverton Tiraha.
Advice for Commuters
Authorities have advised commuters to follow diversion routes and parking guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the event. The police have urged residents to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with traffic personnel.
