Karnal Police Arrest 6 Goldy Brar Gang Members, Foil Murders

The CIA-1 unit of Karnal police has arrested six individuals allegedly linked to the Goldy Brar gang, thwarting two planned murders. Among those arrested are five sharpshooters, while one suspect is accused of supplying weapons. The police seized eight illegal pistols, 30 live cartridges, and a car from their possession.

Details of the Arrest

According to Inspector Sandeep Singh, Incharge of CIA-1, the operation was conducted on June 29 during a naka on Ring Road near Kutel village. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a vehicle carrying heavily armed men. One suspected accomplice managed to flee during the operation.

The arrested individuals are Pawan alias Ponna, a former municipal councillor from Kalanaur in Rohtak district; Jatin from Kalanaur; Rahul from Kharkhoda in Sonepat; Navdeep and Kapil from Malpur village in Panipat—all identified as shooters. The sixth accused, Aakash from Kharkhoda, was arrested for allegedly supplying weapons.

Planned Targets

The police revealed that the gang was plotting to murder Avtar, a resident of Kalanaur, who had contested municipal elections against Pawan. The rivalry reportedly escalated after an altercation during the elections, leading to the conspiracy. The second target was Chandu Ferozpuria, a Punjab-based gangster with multiple criminal cases, including murder, and links to rival networks.

Inspector Singh stated, “We had specific information that some armed criminals associated with a notorious gang were coming towards Karnal. Acting swiftly, our team intercepted the vehicle and seized eight illegal pistols and 30 live cartridges. With the joint efforts of all team members, we have prevented two planned murders.”

Ongoing Investigation

Three absconding suspects—Parmeet from Panipat, Munish from Kharkhoda, and Amar alias Bholu from Ladrawan village in Sonepat—are being pursued. A case under the Arms Act has been registered at Madhuban police station. The accused will be produced in court for remand. Inspector Singh added, “We are making efforts to arrest the three accused. The police will try to trace the source of the illegal weapons, identify members of the arms supply chain, and other people involved with the network.” The criminal backgrounds of the remaining accused are being verified, with preliminary investigation showing Pawan had a prior criminal case.
