A man from Karnataka, who had been evading court hearings for seven years in a cheating case, was finally arrested in Bihar. The accused, identified as Ravi, a resident of Mangaluru, was wanted in a case registered at the Mangaluru police station in 2017.
Details of the Case
According to police, Ravi was involved in a cheating case where he allegedly duped a businessman of several lakh rupees. After the case was registered, he failed to appear before the court and absconded. The court issued a non-bailable warrant against him, but he managed to evade arrest by frequently changing his location.
Arrest in Bihar
A special team from Mangaluru police tracked Ravi to a remote village in Bihar, where he had been living under a false identity. The team, with the help of local police, arrested him on Wednesday. He was produced before a local court and later brought to Mangaluru for further legal proceedings.
Police officials stated that Ravi had been evading arrest by moving between states and using different aliases. His arrest marks the end of a long hunt that involved coordination between multiple police departments.
The accused is currently in judicial custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are also probing if he was involved in similar cases elsewhere.
