Kerala man arrested for attacking KSEB official over power cut

Arrest Made in KSEB Assault Case

Karukachal police have arrested Rolfi Varghese, 27, of Devagiri Kalloorthazhcha, for attacking KSEB Pathanad section overseer M K Manojkumar, 55, in the early hours of Thursday. The incident occurred around 1:30 am after a power outage disrupted Varghese's viewing of a World Cup football match.

Chain of Events

The power disruption was caused by a tree falling in the Moolappeedika area. Varghese first went to the KSEB office and created a ruckus, brandishing an iron rod while demanding information. Upon learning that employees were working to rectify the fault at the site where the tree fell, he proceeded to the location. There, he attacked Manojkumar and another worker, M K Sabu, after hurling abuses.

Injuries and Legal Proceedings

Manojkumar sustained injuries and sought treatment at Pampady Taluk Hospital. Following the attack, police apprehended Varghese. He was produced in court and subsequently remanded.

According to police officials, the accused was visibly agitated due to the power cut interrupting the football match. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be taken as per the law.
