Trichy: A 37-year-old man from Kerala was killed after an omni bus rammed into his motorcycle near the Central Prison in Cantonment, Trichy, late on Tuesday night.
Victim Identified
The deceased was identified as M Vishnu, 37, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He worked as a manager at a security services agency in Thiruvanaikovil and lived in the locality.
Accident Details
Police said Vishnu was returning home on his motorcycle after work when the accident occurred around midnight. An omni bus travelling from Kalaiyarkovil to Chennai allegedly hit his vehicle, leaving him with fatal injuries. He died on the spot.
The bus was driven by S Nallaiah of Kalaiyarkovil in Sivagangai district.
Police Response
Traffic South and Cantonment police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital for postmortem.
Legal Action
Based on a complaint lodged by a relative, Traffic South police registered a case on Wednesday under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rash and negligent driving. Further investigation is underway.
