Khanna SSP Forms 5-Member SIT to Probe Urea Scam

Khanna SSP Darpan Ahluwalia on Thursday constituted a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the alleged urea scam in Punjab. The SIT comprises a Superintendent of Police (Detective), three Deputy Superintendents of Police, and a Station House Officer. Police teams are conducting raids to apprehend the accused.

SIT to Probe Every Angle

SSP Ahluwalia stated that the SIT will investigate all aspects of the scam. If any government or private individuals, beyond those already booked, are found involved, strict legal action will be taken. The case was registered at Khanna's City police station based on a complaint from Agriculture Development Officer Gurpreet Kaur.

Background of the Scam

The Khanna police recently registered a case against several suspects, including a General Manager and other employees of the Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producer Federation Limited's cattle feed plant on GT Road, for alleged misuse of subsidised urea. This development follows the arrest of IAS officers Pankaj Aggarwal and Ram Kumar Singh by the CBI in connection with a related Rs 657-crore bank scam.
