Kottayam: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl from Veeyapuram in Alappuzha was sexually assaulted by two men, including her own brother-in-law. The police arrested and remanded both accused on Wednesday.
Investigation initiated after missing complaint
The Veeyapuram police registered a case and launched an investigation after receiving a complaint that the Class X student, who had gone to school, was found missing. During the probe, it came to light that she had gone with her male friend, a salesman at a prominent establishment in Haripad. The man is married and has two children.
Girl's statement reveals prolonged abuse
During subsequent questioning, the girl gave a statement about the incident. She told police that she had been subjected to assault since Class VIII by her elder sister’s husband, a native of Mannar. This revelation added a disturbing dimension to the case.
Arrests made
Police arrested the girl’s male friend and her brother-in-law and remanded them in judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the abuse.
