KSU Leader Fenni Ninan Approaches Kerala High Court to Quash Cyber Police Case
Fenni Ninan, a prominent leader of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) from Pathanamthitta district, has formally approached the Kerala High Court. He seeks to quash a criminal case filed against him by the Pathanamthitta cyber police. The case centers on allegations that Ninan revealed the identity of a woman who filed a sexual assault complaint against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.
Cyber Police Register FIR Over Facebook Posts
The Pathanamthitta cyber police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Fenni Ninan following a specific complaint. The complaint alleged that Ninan posted screenshots of the woman's private chats on his personal Facebook page on January 15. These actions, according to the complaint, potentially disclosed the identity of the complainant in the sensitive case against the MLA.
Ninan's Defense in the High Court Petition
In his petition submitted to the Kerala High Court, Fenni Ninan presents a strong defense against the allegations. He contends that the Facebook posts in question merely displayed messages he received from the woman. Ninan argues these posts did not disclose her identity in any manner.
He further states the shared content contained no personal details capable of identifying the woman. The KSU leader also emphasizes that he made no defamatory statements against her through the posts. His legal team is pushing for the case to be dismissed based on these arguments.
High Court to Hear the Plea on Monday
The Kerala High Court has scheduled a hearing for the plea. The court will consider Ninan's petition to quash the cyber police case on Monday. This legal proceeding will be closely watched, given its connection to the high-profile complaint against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.
The outcome could set a significant precedent regarding social media sharing and privacy in cases involving public figures. All parties await the court's decision on this contentious matter.
