Lucknow Police's 'Operation Pehchan' Registers 13,864 Tenants in 2025 Drive
Lucknow Police Registers 13,864 Tenants in Operation Pehchan

The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has launched a major initiative called 'Operation Pehchan'. This drive focuses on mandatory registration and verification of tenants across the city. Police officials say the operation aims to reduce crime rates and enhance monitoring in residential neighborhoods.

Massive Registration Numbers Already Achieved

According to JCP (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar, Operation Pehchan has already registered 13,864 tenants in 2025. The police are pushing hard to ensure every tenant gets verified through this systematic process.

Awareness Campaigns Reach Every Corner

Police teams are conducting extensive awareness drives in all police station areas. They are directly contacting landlords to explain the legal requirements for tenant verification. Officers emphasize that registering tenants is not just important but legally necessary.

Public announcements using loudspeakers in residential colonies are spreading the message widely. Police urge residents through these announcements to avoid keeping tenants without proper police verification.

Zone-Wise Registration Breakdown

The police have shared detailed zone-wise data showing registration numbers across Lucknow:

  • Eastern Zone: 6,657 registrations
  • Southern Zone: 4,928 registrations
  • Central Zone: 843 registrations
  • Northern Zone: 904 registrations
  • Western Zone: 532 registrations

Police teams are now conducting physical verification of all registered tenants to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Simple Registration Process for Landlords

Landlords can easily register tenant details through two convenient methods. They can use the official Lucknow Police website at lucknowpolice.up.gov.in or download the UPCOP mobile application. Officials confirm both platforms are fully functional for this purpose.

After completing online registration, local police station teams visit the property for on-ground verification. Landlords must maintain copies of essential tenant documents as per police guidelines.

Strict Legal Consequences for Non-Compliance

Police have issued a clear warning about legal consequences. If a tenant is found involved in criminal activities and the landlord failed to register or inform police about that tenant, legal action will be initiated against the landlord. This strict approach aims to ensure full cooperation from property owners.

Special Rules for Foreign Nationals

Operation Pehchan includes special provisions for foreign nationals living in Lucknow. Landlords renting accommodation to foreign citizens must fill 'Form C' and immediately inform their local police station. This additional step helps maintain proper records of international visitors.

The Lucknow Police continue to expand Operation Pehchan across all city zones. They believe this comprehensive tenant verification system will significantly improve urban safety and security for all residents.
