A horrific act of violence shook the Laheriyaganj Musahari Dalit Tola area of Madhubani town on Sunday night, resulting in the tragic deaths of two young men and leaving two others with serious injuries. The assailant, reportedly in an inebriated state, carried out a brutal and indiscriminate knife attack on residents.
Chronology of a Nightmare
The incident unfolded around 10:30 PM on Sunday night. According to eyewitness accounts, an intoxicated man armed with a large knife began attacking people in the Dalit Tola locality without warning. The attack was so sudden and fierce that even those who tried to intervene and stop the assailant were not spared, receiving stab wounds in the process.
The two victims who lost their lives in this senseless violence have been identified as Deepak Saday (15) and Rambabu Saday (21). Both sustained critical stab wounds to their abdomens and collapsed on the spot immediately. In a desperate bid to save them, local residents rushed the duo to the Madhubani Sadar Hospital.
Critical Condition and Police Investigation
Given the severity of their injuries, the doctors at the Sadar hospital referred them to the better-equipped Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) during the night. Tragically, both Deepak and Rambabu succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at DMCH.
Among the injured, Lal Babu Saday is reported to be in a critical condition and is currently receiving medical care at Darbhanga Medical College. The police from the Town police station acted swiftly, visiting both the crime scene and the hospital to gather evidence and initiate an investigation.
Manhunt Launched for Identified Attacker
Madhubani Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogendra Kumar provided a crucial update, stating that the alleged attacker has been identified. He is Rahul Kumar Yadav, a resident of Jhonjhi village which falls under the jurisdiction of the Arer police station. The police have launched extensive raids to locate and apprehend Yadav, who is currently at large.
At this preliminary stage of the investigation, the precise motive behind this violent attack remains unclear. Authorities are continuing their probe to uncover the reasons that led to this tragic event, which has left a community in mourning and shock.
