Madhubani Man Fatally Shot During Attempted Bike Robbery
In a shocking incident in Madhubani, Bihar, a 32-year-old man was shot dead on Tuesday morning when he resisted an attempt by criminals to rob him of his motorcycle. The assailants fired a bullet directly into his mouth, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The crime occurred in the Raghopur Balat area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Rajnagar police station. The deceased has been identified as Jayram Mandal, also known as Jay Singh Sakshi, a resident of Samadhi Tola in Raghopur Balat.
On Tuesday, Jayram was traveling to Madhubani for some work. Approximately two kilometers from his home, on the road leading to Sarwadih, criminals attempted to snatch his bike. When he resisted their efforts, the assailants shot him in the mouth. Police reported that the bike key was still clutched in the deceased's hand at the time of the incident.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving information about the shooting, police personnel arrived at the spot promptly. They recovered a live cartridge and a spent bullet from the scene. The body was sent to the sadar hospital for a postmortem examination.
Chandra Kishore Tuddu, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Rajnagar, stated that a search operation for the criminals is currently underway. Additionally, a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was dispatched to the location to gather evidence and assist in the investigation.
Local Protest and Highway Blockade
In response to the incident, local residents expressed their outrage by blocking the Madhubani-Samia road, which is part of National Highway 27 (NH-27). The protest lasted for more than four hours, bringing vehicular traffic on this crucial route to a complete standstill.
SHO Chandra Kishore Tuddu mentioned that after extensive persuasion by authorities, the roadblock was eventually cleared. The protest highlights the growing concerns among locals regarding safety and law enforcement in the area.
This tragic event underscores the urgent need for enhanced security measures and swift justice in cases of violent crime. The police investigation continues as the community mourns the loss of Jayram Mandal.
