Man Detained for Threat Calls to Mumbai Hotels

Mumbai: The Colaba police have detained a resident of Panvel, identified as Santosh Sawant, for allegedly making threatening phone calls to two five-star hotels in south Mumbai. The calls were made at approximately 9:30 pm on Tuesday. Upon receiving the calls, the hotel authorities immediately alerted the police.

Police Action and Investigation

A non-cognisable offence has been registered in connection with the incident. Leveraging technical intelligence, the Colaba police traced the caller to Vichumbe village in Panvel, Navi Mumbai, and subsequently detained Santosh Sawant. He was brought to the police station for further questioning.

“We are currently interrogating the accused,” a police official stated. The authorities are also verifying whether Sawant has any prior criminal record or involvement in similar incidents.
