A tragic incident unfolded at the Dausa District Hospital on Thursday, where a 30-year-old man died by suicide inside the surgical ward. The police have identified the deceased as Ramavatar Meena, a resident of Nangal Rajawatan.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The man was found deceased in the bathroom of the surgical ward. According to police reports, he had locked himself inside and used a towel to hang himself. The incident was discovered around 6 am when hospital staff arrived and found the bathroom door locked from the inside.
Personnel from the nearby police outpost and Kotwali police station rushed to the spot after being informed. They had to break open the bathroom door. Inside, they found Ramavatar Meena hanging from a towel noose. He was immediately moved to the emergency ward, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police Investigation and Family's Account
The police have sealed the bathroom and initiated proceedings. After a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to his grieving family. His brother has filed a formal report with the authorities.
Initial investigations reveal that Ramavatar Meena worked as a labourer and often stayed away from home for work. He was married in 2008, but his family told police that he was suffering from marital discord. This ongoing strife with his wife severely affected his mental health, and he was often found in a state of desolation.
Unanswered Questions and Probe
A puzzling aspect of the case, highlighted by the police, is that Meena was not an admitted patient at the Dausa District Hospital. Hospital records confirm this, raising critical questions about how and when he gained access to the restricted surgical ward.
Investigators are now meticulously examining CCTV camera footage from across the hospital premises to trace his movements and determine the circumstances of his entry. The police are continuing their probe to piece together the final hours of the deceased.
