The event occurred in the Gulabbag area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station in Purnia. The deceased has been identified as Shravan Mallick, son of Hiradhan Mallick. According to local residents, Shravan was deeply troubled by his poor financial situation at home. To cope, he had taken a loan, but the subsequent pressure, particularly from the loan agent, became unbearable for him.

Shravan Mallick's death is a personal catastrophe for his immediate family. He was married five years ago and is survived by his wife and their four-year-old son. His untimely death has plunged the household into profound grief and an uncertain future, stripping them of their primary support.

Upon receiving information, police officials swiftly arrived at the scene. The team was led by station in-charge Shashi Kumar Bhagat. The police seized the body and sent it to GMCH Purnia for a postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Officer Bhagat confirmed that an investigation into the circumstances leading to the suicide has been initiated.
