Man Arrested for Murdering Brother-in-Law in Andhra Pradesh Canal Case

In a shocking crime, a 34-year-old man was arrested by Lepakshi police in Sri Sathya Sai district on Friday for plotting and executing the murder of his brother-in-law. The victim's body was discovered dumped in the Handri Neeva canal, leading to a swift investigation and the apprehension of the accused and his two accomplices.

Details of the Accused and the Crime

According to Hindupur DSP K Mahesh, the primary accused has been identified as S Raju, a resident of M. Venkatapuram village in Lepakshi mandal. His two accomplices, KN Shreyas (24) and S Venugopal (22), were also taken into custody. The investigation revealed that the motive stemmed from familial discord and alleged humiliation.

Raju's sister, S Meghana, had married Bengaluru resident M Vinay Kumar approximately one year ago. Over time, Vinay began suspecting his wife's fidelity, which led to him allegedly humiliating both Meghana and her brother, Raju. Enraged by this continuous harassment, Raju conspired with his friends to eliminate his brother-in-law.

Execution of the Murder and Disposal of the Body

On the night of April 4, Raju lured Vinay to Venkatapuram under the pretext of holding talks to resolve their issues. Once there, the trio cornered Vinay near the Handri Neeva canal. In a brutal attack, they assaulted him with a cricket bat, resulting in his death. To conceal the crime, they disposed of his body and his motorcycle in the canal before returning to their village.

Two days later, on April 6, locals spotted Vinay's body floating in the canal and alerted the authorities. A case was promptly registered, and a postmortem examination confirmed that the death was a homicide. The police launched a thorough probe, which led to the arrest of Raju and his aides near the outskirts of Venkatapuram.

Evidence Seized and Investigation Progress

During the arrests, law enforcement officials seized several items as evidence, including an SUV, two bikes, and three mobile phones. The accused were also taken to the crime scene for reconstruction to gather further insights into the incident. This meticulous approach underscores the police's commitment to building a strong case against the perpetrators.

The arrest highlights the severe consequences of domestic disputes escalating into violent crimes. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined, and justice is served for the victim and his family.
