In a shocking incident of vengeance, a man from Bihar abducted his girlfriend's infant son in Delhi after she turned down his proposal for marriage. The accused, identified as Hemant Kumar, was later apprehended by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Kanpur Central Station as he attempted to flee to his home state.
The Kidnapping and Swift Police Action
Acting on a crucial tip-off from the Delhi Police, specifically from the Kapsera West police station, the RPF team at Kanpur Central sprang into action. Inspector SN Patidar, who is in charge of the RPF post, stated that they received specific information about Hemant Kumar having kidnapped a one-year-old child and escaping aboard the Vikramshila Express. The police were also provided with a photograph of the child to aid in identification.
When the train arrived at platform number 4 of Kanpur Central Station at 8:15 pm, the RPF personnel successfully located the accused. He was found sitting in a general compartment, holding the child. Kumar was immediately taken into custody without any resistance.
A Rejected Proposal Leads to a Desperate Act
According to preliminary reports, the sequence of events began in Delhi. Hemant Kumar had met with his girlfriend, who is a married woman. During their meeting, he pressured her to leave her current life and be with him. When she refused, citing her responsibility towards her young child, Kumar allegedly decided to take revenge.
In a desperate and cruel move, he snatched the woman's one-year-old son and quickly made his way to the railway station. He boarded the Vikramshila Express, likely hoping to disappear into Bihar with the child. The distraught mother promptly reported the kidnapping to the Delhi Police, triggering the inter-city alert that led to his capture.

The Delhi Police had already registered a formal case of kidnapping under section BNS 137(2) prior to the arrest. Following the successful operation in Kanpur, the RPF officials informed their Delhi counterparts. A team from Delhi Police is now en route to Kanpur to take custody of both the accused, Hemant Kumar, and the rescued child.
