A 60-year-old man was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident while he was on a morning walk in Bengaluru's Yelahanka area on Tuesday. The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. near the Yelahanka New Town police station limits.
Incident Details
The victim, identified as Narasimha Murthy, a resident of Yelahanka, was walking along the roadside when a speeding vehicle struck him. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving Murthy critically injured. Passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police Investigation
The Yelahanka New Town police have registered a case of hit-and-run and launched an investigation. They are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and the driver. Preliminary reports suggest the vehicle might be a car, though no arrests have been made yet.
This incident has once again raised concerns about road safety in Bengaluru, where hit-and-run cases are on the rise. Locals have urged the authorities to install speed breakers and increase patrolling in residential areas to prevent such accidents.
