Tragic Hit-and-Run Claims Life on Busy National Highway
A devastating hit-and-run incident on National Highway 31 has resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man in Bihar's Khagaria district. The victim, identified as Ramanand, a native of Sonbarsa ghat, lost his life after an unidentified vehicle collided with his motorcycle.
The tragic event occurred on Friday night near Deoka village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Chautham police station. The force of the impact was severe, leading to fatal injuries for Ramanand.
Rushed to Hospital, Declared Dead on Arrival
Following the collision, local residents and passersby rushed Ramanand to the nearest medical facility. He was taken to the Chautham block headquarters-based Community Health Centre (CHC) for urgent treatment.
Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, the attending doctors at the CHC examined him and declared him dead. The police confirmed this sequence of events, stating he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the health centre.
Police Investigation and Postmortem Underway
Station House Officer (SHO) Ajit Kumar of Chautham police station provided details about the ongoing procedures. He stated that after the formalities at the CHC, the body was sent to the sadar hospital for a postmortem examination.
The primary objective of the postmortem is to ascertain the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence. Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation to trace the unidentified vehicle that fled the scene after causing the accident.
This incident has once again highlighted the dangers on national highways, especially at night, and the menace of hit-and-run cases. The local community in Sonbarsa ghat is in mourning following the untimely death of Ramanand.
