Baghapurana DSP Jaswinder Singh Khahra stated that the police received a statement from Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of Bathinda, who is the sister of the deceased, Meharjit Singh. She informed the authorities that her brother lived in Rode village and that she had received a message on Thursday morning indicating that Meharjit had died after a quarrel with his son, Lovepreet Singh.

Jaspreet Kaur rushed to the Civil Hospital in Baghapurana, where doctors declared Meharjit Singh dead upon arrival.
