Man Injured in Shooting Incident in Jaipur's Walled City
A 30-year-old man sustained injuries after being shot in the Gangapole area of Jaipur's Walled City on Monday morning. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Brahmpuri police station.
Details of the Shooting
The accused, identified as Ravi Mehra, arrived at the scene on a motorcycle with an accomplice. He opened fire before quickly fleeing the spot. Police officials confirmed these details from their initial investigation.
The injured man, Bablu Mahawar, suffered a bullet wound to his right thigh. He was immediately taken to SMS Hospital for medical treatment. Doctors at the hospital reported that his condition is now stable.
Background and Motive
At the time of the shooting, Bablu was sitting outside his house. His family was busy with wedding preparations, as his sister is scheduled to be married on February 6. This sudden violence disrupted their festive activities.
Police described Ravi Mehra as a 25-year-old history-sheeter with a long criminal record. He has 26 cases registered against him. According to preliminary findings, Ravi allegedly intended to target Bablu's cousin, Ajay.
"Ajay moved aside at the last moment, and the bullet instead struck Bablu," a police officer explained. This accidental hit led to Bablu's injury while the intended target escaped unharmed.
Public Reaction and Police Response
Following the incident, Bablu's family members and numerous local residents gathered to protest outside the Brahmpuri police station. They expressed their concerns and demanded swift action against the perpetrator.
