Mohali police conducted a targeted operation against drug trafficking and illegal activities. They made three arrests in separate incidents over recent days. The police recovered a significant quantity of contraband during this special drive.
Police Action Under Senior Officers' Directions
Acting on specific directions from the Punjab Director General of Police and other senior officers, the Sadar Kharar police station in Gharuan carried out this action. The operation forms part of an ongoing anti-narcotics campaign across the region. DSP Kharar Karan Singh Sandhu provided detailed information about the arrests and recoveries.
First Arrest with Major Heroin Haul
On January 9, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Krishan Kumar arrested Sakir Hussain. Hussain hails from Chuhar Pur Kalan village in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana. Officers recovered 150 grams of heroin from his possession. Police registered a case under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Sadar Kharar police station.
Second Narcotics Case Uncovered
The following day, on January 10, a patrol team headed by Sub-Inspector Kamaljit Singh apprehended another suspect. They arrested Mohit Kumar, a resident of Adarsh Colony in Balongi. Police caught him near the water tank area in Gharuan. From Kumar, officers seized 25 grams of heroin. Authorities filed another case under the NDPS Act for this recovery.
Illicit Liquor Bust During Routine Check
On January 11, police conducted routine checking at the Gharuan bus stand. During this check, they arrested Avtar Singh. Singh originally comes from Lakhmirpura in Ferozepur but currently lives in Bhago Majra. He was transporting 36 bottles of illicit liquor on an Activa scooter. The liquor carried the brand name 'Damdar Santra Masaladar' and was intended for sale in Chandigarh. Police registered a case under Section 61(1)(14) of the Excise Act for this violation.
Investigations Continue into Supply Chains
DSP Sandhu confirmed that investigations are currently underway. Police are working to trace the source of the contraband and uncover the entire supply chain. Sandhu emphasized that strict action will continue against drug peddlers and individuals involved in illegal activities. The police remain committed to their anti-narcotics campaign across Mohali district.
