Tragic Discovery in Chittorgarh: Mother and Son Found Dead in Pond

In a heartbreaking incident in Rajasthan, the bodies of a 24-year-old woman and her young son were discovered in a pond in the Kapasan police station area of Chittorgarh district on Saturday. The local authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

Police Respond to Initial Report

According to Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi, the police first received information about a child's body floating in a pond located on Radiyarji Road. Kapasan police station officer Sunil Sharma immediately rushed to the spot with his team. The child's body was successfully retrieved from the water on Saturday morning.

The deceased child was later identified as Naveen Prajapat. Upon informing the family, officials learned that Naveen's mother, Mamta Prajapat, aged 24, had taken him to a nearby temple on Friday and had not returned since.

Search Leads to Second Body

During the initial investigation near the pond, police found a pair of slippers belonging to Mamta Prajapat. This discovery prompted a more intensive search operation. A civil defence team was called to the scene to assist in the efforts.

Around 3 PM on Saturday, the team recovered Mamta's body from the same pond. The proximity of the two bodies has raised significant questions, and authorities are working to determine the exact sequence of events that led to this tragedy.

Background of the Deceased

Police revealed that Mamta Prajapat had arrived at her in-laws' house in Kapasan from her parental home in Rajsamand district just the day before, on Thursday. The sudden and tragic turn of events has left the local community in shock and mourning.

As the investigation continues, police are examining all possible angles, including whether this was an accident or something more sinister. The recovery of both bodies from the pond has underscored the urgency of the case, with officials pledging to leave no stone unturned in their quest for answers.

The incident has highlighted the need for increased safety measures around water bodies in rural areas, even as the families of the deceased grapple with an unimaginable loss.
