MSU Student Films Man's Obscene Acts Near Girls' Hostel, Sparks Safety Concerns

A video showing a man engaging in obscene acts outside the girls' hostel at Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) in Vadodara has gone viral on social media. The footage, recorded by a master's student, has ignited widespread discussions about student safety on campus.

Student Witnesses Disturbing Incident

The student captured the video on Friday evening while walking back to her hostel near the faculty of family and community sciences. She noticed a man sitting on his motorbike, exposing himself and performing obscene acts. When she shouted loudly, the man quickly left the scene.

"I was walking to my hostel when I saw this man on his bike. He was exposing himself and doing obscene things. He looked right at me and kept going, so I shouted as loud as I could. That's when he finally drove away," the student explained.

Immediate Reporting and Further Encounters

After the incident, the student immediately informed her hostel warden about what happened. She described a similar encounter the very next day in Sayajigunj, where she witnessed another man behaving inappropriately. This repeated experience prompted her to share the video online.

"That second incident on Saturday made me decide to post the hostel video on social media. Once I did, many other girls contacted me with similar stories. They told me this man hangs around the hostel every day, making obscene gestures at female students," she added.

Calls for Enhanced Safety Measures

The viral video has highlighted serious safety concerns for female students at MSU. The student emphasized the urgent need for stricter police action and increased night patrolling in vulnerable areas around the campus.

"Girls are facing sexual harassment in certain spots near the university. The police must take strict action immediately. We also need more night patrolling to ensure our safety," she stated firmly.

The incident underscores ongoing challenges regarding women's security in educational institutions. It has sparked calls for better protection and prompt responses from authorities to prevent such occurrences in the future.
