Mumbai Police Crack Down on Motorcycle Theft Ring with Arrest of Three Suspects

In a significant breakthrough, the Andheri Police have apprehended three individuals linked to a series of motorcycle thefts across Mumbai. The arrests come after a meticulous investigation into multiple incidents, including a recent theft reported in the Gundavli area of Andheri East.

Details of the Theft and Investigation

The latest case involved a motorcycle stolen during the intervening night of January 13 and 14, 2024, from a parked location in Gundavli. This incident prompted the Andheri Police to intensify their probe, leading them to uncover a broader pattern of criminal activity.

During the investigation, police officials discovered that the accused were residents of Sakinaka, a locality in Mumbai. By closely monitoring their movements and activities, law enforcement was able to track down and arrest the trio, putting an end to their alleged spree of thefts.

Profiles of the Accused

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Omkar Fasge, 22 years old, who works as an auto-rickshaw driver.
  • Kartik Mhaske, 18 years old, currently a student.
  • Sagar Gaikwad, 19 years old, who is unemployed.

Police authorities revealed that the trio has a history of criminal involvement, with approximately 15 cases of cheating and theft registered against them at various police stations in the past. This prior record underscores the persistent nature of their alleged illegal activities.

Recovery of Stolen Property

As a result of the arrests, the Andheri Police have successfully seized nine stolen motorcycles from the accused. This recovery marks a crucial step in addressing the thefts and returning the vehicles to their rightful owners, while also disrupting the operations of this theft ring.

The police have emphasized that this arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb vehicle-related crimes in Mumbai, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The case is now under further investigation to determine if the accused were involved in additional thefts or if there are other accomplices.
