Car Found Abandoned; Accused Believed to Have Switched Vehicles
Two days after the abduction of a Muthoot Microfin branch manager from Poovachal, police suspect that the accused may have fled the district. Investigators recovered the car allegedly used in the kidnapping, abandoned near Kapikad CSI Church under Vilappilsala police station limits. Police believe the accused switched to another vehicle after abandoning the car and escaped from the area.
Investigation Focuses on CCTV and Mobile Tower Records
The probe is currently centered on analyzing CCTV footage and mobile tower records collected from the route taken by the gang. However, the investigation has encountered difficulties as all mobile phones linked to the accused have been switched off. Police sources said the possibility of the gang leaving the district is being examined.
Brother of Accused Questioned; Motive Unclear
As part of the investigation, the brother of one of the accused was summoned and questioned. The victim, Girish, was allegedly abducted by a gang near Poovachal Junction on Wednesday evening. According to police, the accused forcibly bundled him into a car while he was attempting to repair his two-wheeler after work and drove away from the area. The motive behind the abduction remains unclear. Police have not disclosed whether the victim has been traced or if any ransom demand was made.
