Patna: Father Allegedly Kills Son-in-Law in Muzaffarpur Honour Killing Case
A shocking case of suspected honour killing has emerged from Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. Police report that a man stands accused of murdering his own son-in-law. The incident occurred because the father opposed the couple's love marriage.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The crime took place in Bangra village. This village falls under the jurisdiction of the Sivaipatti police station. The alleged murder happened late on Sunday night.
According to official information, the victim was Ayush Kumar. He was 28 years old. Ayush married Tanu Kumari, a 23-year-old woman from the same village. Their wedding took place on August 15, 2024. The couple registered their marriage at the district office.
Tanu's family strongly disapproved of this union. They were reportedly unhappy with the love marriage from the start. Family members began threatening Ayush and his relatives after the wedding.
The Wife's Heartbreaking Account
Tanu Kumari, now a widow, provided a detailed statement to the police. She described how she and Ayush fell in love and decided to marry. Her father and brother never accepted their relationship.
"My family, including my father and brother, were not happy about it," Tanu said. "They were threatening us."
She recounted the horrific events of Saturday night. The family was asleep in their home. Tanu's father, along with other relatives, entered the house. They allegedly shot Ayush at close range.
"My father and some other family members entered our house and shot Ayush," a crying Tanu told authorities.
Police Investigation and Official Statement
Local police have registered a formal case against Tanu's father and other family members. The First Information Report relies heavily on the widow's testimony.
Muzaffarpur Rural SP Rajesh Kumar Singh Prabhakar addressed the media. He confirmed the brutal nature of the attack.
"Ayush was shot in the temple from close range," the SP stated. "The FIR was registered based on the statement of the victim's wife. We are investigating the matter and will take action against the accused."
Police teams have launched raids to apprehend the suspects. The accused individuals remain at large as the search continues.
A Young Family Torn Apart
The tragedy leaves behind a devastated young mother and an infant child. Ayush and Tanu have an eight-month-old baby. The child has now lost his father in the most violent manner.
Tanu made a passionate plea for justice through her tears. "My child is very young, and now he lost his father," she said. "I want justice."
This case highlights the persistent issue of honour-based violence in certain regions. It shows how family disputes over marriage choices can turn deadly. The community in Bangra village remains in shock over the brutal killing.
