Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav has directed Director General of Police Rupin Sharma to take swift, effective, and exemplary action against perpetrators of sexual assault, particularly against minor girls, following a surge in reported cases. The directive was issued during a meeting at Lok Bhavan in Kohima on Saturday.
Governor Expresses Deep Concern Over Rising Cases
During the discussion, Yadav expressed serious concern over the increasing number of sexual assault incidents targeting women and minor girls in the state. He urged the DGP to review the prevailing law and order situation and evaluate the measures currently in place to address such crimes.
Directive for Exemplary Action
The governor emphasized the need for swift and decisive action against offenders, calling for exemplary punishment to deter future crimes. He instructed the DGP to ensure that investigations are expedited and perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.
Police Chief to Review Law and Order
DGP Rupin Sharma was asked to conduct a comprehensive review of the law and order framework and recommend improvements to prevent such incidents. The meeting highlighted the urgency of addressing the growing threat to women's safety in Nagaland.
